Elva M. Amelung

There will be no services for Elva M. Amelung, age 90, per her request. She passed away  Feb. 10, 2022, at the St. Cloud Hospital with her daughter, Jeannette, by her side. Arrangements are entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids.

Elva was born June 7, 1931, in rural Cass County to Glen and Olive (Matthews) Brant. She was united in marriage to Ivan Payne. Together they had six children and later divorced. Elva was then united in marriage to Carl Amelung. She lived in Oregon for 30 years, moved to Silver Bay, for a few years, and then has been in Sauk Rapids since 2010. Elva worked as a clerk for S&H Green Stamps for many years, cleaned medical buildings, and retired from Bluefin Bay Resort in Tofte in the early 2000s. She enjoyed fishing, especially on the ocean in Oregon, baking, cooking, puzzles and reading. Elva was kind, sweet and overall, a wonderful person and always helped those in need. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved them very much.

Elva is survived by her children, Jeannette (Scott) Johnson of Sauk Rapids, Cynthia Huehn of Minneapolis, Cheryl Katka, Duane (Judy) Payne of Mississippi, Tom (Sue) Payne of St. Cloud, and Laureen (Marvin) Kottschade of Long Prairie; special daughter of the heart, Julie (Steve) Fagan of Milwaukee, Oregon; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Chico Brant of Leader; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl; brothers, Kenneth, Alfred, and Marvin; two great-grandchildren.
