  A celebration of life will be at later date at Riverside Church in Sauk Rapids for Mary Kay Amundson, age 79, who passed away May 21, 2022, at the St. Cloud Hospital. A private family burial will be at a later date at Eleanor Foster Cemetery in Wahkon. Arrangements are entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids.

Mary Kay was born May 18, 1943, to Lorne and Dorothy (Nilles) Zimmer in Cherokee, Iowa. She and her family moved to Moose Lake when she was 16 years old, but she lived most of her life in St. Cloud. Mary Kay was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” Amundson June 22, 1963, in Moose Lake. She worked as the womens athletic equipment manager at St. Cloud State University for 25 years. Mary Kay projected the image of Christ and faith led her life. She was an active member of Riverside Church in Sauk Rapids. She also volunteered for Project Astride. Mary Kay enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, quilting, knitting, crochetin, and spending time with her family. Everyone was family to Mary Kay. She was very giving, social and loved unconditionally. Most importantly, she was so proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mary Kay is survived by her husband of 59 years, Dick of St. Cloud; daughters, Julie (Glenn) Schmitt of Shakopee and Colleen (Shane) Daniel of Charles City, Iowa; son-in-law, Kevin Coleman of Weatherford, Texas; siblings, Carl (Sue) Zimmer of Moose Lake, Don Zimmer of Hoyt Lakes, LouAnn Barrett of Sauk Rapids, and Mark (Angela) Zimmer of Hardin, Montana; grandchildren, Danielle, Jessica, Nicole, Kyle, Nate, Zach, and Amanda; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is rejoicing in heaven with her parents; daughter, Lorna Coleman; and brothers, Paul, Bob, and Dan.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Eleanor Foster Cemetery, 4991 400st Wahkon, MN 56386.

Special thank you to Mary Kay’s sister, LouAnn for the gift of her kidney 26 years ago when Mary Kay needed a transplant.
