Funeral services will be private for Russell H. Gronau, age 56, who passed away Nov. 8, 2021, at his home. Arrangements are entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids.
Russell was born Aug. 12, 1965 in St. Cloud to Harley and Pauline (Thomas) Gronau. He lived all of his life in Rice on the homestead in which he was raised. Russell absolutely loved the location and wouldn’t have wanted to live anywhere else. Russell was taken too soon. He was an avid outdoorsman, who worked hard and had fun in the process. Russell drove truck for many years and would send pictures of the sunrises to those he loved. As he worked to teach his grandkids the importance of hard work and a dollar Russell would pay them to pick up sticks, acorns or even haul wood for grandma’s woodstove. He will be missed by many. True to family and family roots, he was true to his beliefs and honorable. Russell was a devoted son, brother, uncle, father and husband.
Survivors include his life partner, Laura Sobania of Rice; daughter and son, Melanie (Brian) Daniel of Swanville and Riley (Justine) Gronau of Sauk Rapids; step-children, Billie Jo (Jacob) Fleck of St. Cloud and Jonathan Snyder of St. Cloud; sisters and brothers, Judy Gronau of Brainerd, Harley Jr. (Joanne) Gronau of Avon, Harlene (James) Eizenhoefer of Brainerd, Allen (Valerie) Gronau of Rice, David Gronau of Alabama, Debra (Perry) Moulzolf of Foley, Kevin Gronau of New Mexico, Colette Smith of Sauk Rapids, Kathy (Ray) Tate of Alabama, Rodney (Melissa) of Georgia, and Robie (Andrea) Gronau of Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family prefers memorials in lieu of flowers.
