Police Activity Report Nov. 27 to Dec. 3

Sauk Rapids Police Department  Nov. 28, 5 p.m. — A caller on the 900 block of Third Avenue North located syringes in the house, which were left by a former roommate. The caller wanted the items disposed of properly. An officer retrieved the items and disposed of them in a container at the police department.

ST. CLOUD — A Sauk Rapids man is charged with felony domestic assault following an incident that occurred Nov. 26.

Police Activity Report Nov. 20-26

Sauk Rapids Police Department Nov. 23, 5:09 p.m. — An officer was approached on the 100 block of First Street South by a man who said his vehicle was damaged. The man said someone had drenched his vehicle while he was inside a store; he demanded video footage. The officer observed the vehicle, which it appeared to have been splashed on. The officer advised the man that nothing criminal had occurred and footage would not be retrieved.

Karen Rudy

Karen Rudy passed away Nov. 24, 2023, at the age of 81. She was born Nov. 1, 1942, in Echo. Karen grew up in Belview, and graduated from Belview High School before continuing on to Mankato State University where she received her degree in elementary education. Karen met Bruce Rudy during their high school years. They were married at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Belview  Sept. 22, 1962. They lived in Fairfax until 1968 when they relocated to Sauk Rapids and raised their family. Karen worked as a special education teacher for three years followed by several years of substitute teaching. While in Sauk Rapids, she provided day care for numerous families. After their children were grown, she went on to become a financial analyst at Bankers Systems in St Cloud. Bruce and Karen retired to their lake home in Alexandria in 1997.

Christmas trees

Christmas trees do not grow into the desired pyramid shape without human intervention. They are sheared as they grow to remove wayward branches and encourage the branches to grow thicker. The terminal leader or highest branch on the tree may be cut to keep the tree at a desired height. Neighboring branches are sheared to keep them from becoming a new terminal leader.
